Remember Old Lahaina

Relief Fund

Urgent help needed for the people affected by the Lahaina Fire on the island of Maui in Hawaii.

We set up this site to make it fast and easy to get aid to the people affected by the August 2023 Lahaina Fire. We are Hawaiians and ‘Ohana, who care deeply, and we cannot achieve our goals of aid alone. Funds are desperately needed for affected - for food, clothing, shelter and more. Letter from Master Maui Saito:

Aloha, From Master Maui,

Thank you for your prayers, blessings, and heartfelt Aloha.

My two sons, their wives, and my five grandchildren and their ‘ohana live on Maui. They were not in imminent danger from the fires and thankfully they are all safe.

For some of our family and friends, it has been horrific and a devastating loss of homes, businesses and everything. My family is trying to help as much as possible. They have made monetary donations, and donated food, water, blankets, pillows, toys, and other basic necessities to the many affected people, but much more is needed.

This “Remember Old Lahaina Relief Fund” is set up for those able to make a financial donation. The funds go to impacted people, families, and first responders.

Please share this website link with your friends and family. If you’re able, please post on your social media.

Mahalo in advance for your generous contribution.

Monetary donations are the most needed since many displaced people have no place to store items, due to being in shared living spaces, cars, or shelters. They will need different things, like first aid, medicine, transportation, cell phone service , and more. Everyone and every family is in a different situation.

My older son is an elevator engineer who was called out to Ka’anapali and he said,

“Dad, it’s really hard not to cry… I saw so much loss.

It’s the saddest feeling ever…”

“We know so many people who have been affected by the fires on Maui.

It is still hard to believe that it happened.

So much loss and destruction. It is heartbreaking. Our island is really hurting right now.”

A letter from Dustin & Amy Silks,

As many are aware, Amy and I had the amazing opportunity to live and work on Maui over the past 3 years.  Maui is such a special place, but it is more than a place, more than its beautiful beaches, stunning waterfalls, and magical rainbows.  Maui is the people.  A group of people that love unconditionally, a group of people that have a beautiful culture, people that became our family, our Ohana.  These are families that mean the world to us.  Now we want to repay them for all the kindness and love that we were so blessed with.

In the wake of the devastating Maui fires that have left families shattered and homes reduced to ashes, our hearts are heavy with the weight of their loss. But within our community lies a power stronger than any flame - the power of unity, compassion, and unwavering support.  This is truly the Power of Aloha!

It's during times like these that we come together to show what it truly means to be a community, to be Ohana. Every story of courage, resilience, and the determination to rise from the ashes has touched our hearts deeply. Now, we have the opportunity to transform our empathy into action.

Please join us in our efforts to support or close friends and Ohana through the Remember Old Lahaina fund raising campaign.  This is an initiative dedicated to helping the families we personally know that have been devastated by the Maui fires rebuild their lives and find solace in the embrace of a caring community.  With this initiative 100% of the funds will go directly to the families we know and love!

Aloha is so much more than a word and much more than hello and good-bye.  It’s a belief, a belief that together as Ohana we can accomplish anything.  So together let’s show the Aloha Spirit and come together to make a difference in the lives of so many that are in pain.  So many that mean so much to us personally!

Maui Strong!
